The BMW diesel scandal is one of a series of emissions manipulation cases that have rocked the automotive industry. Investigations and court rulings show that numerous BMW diesel vehicles were fitted with illegal defeat devices such as thermal windows. These ensure that emissions control only works under certain conditions – in everyday use, the vehicles emit significantly more nitrogen oxides than permitted.

The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has already ordered recalls for models such as the BMW X3 and the 5 and 7 series. Experts assume that other models are also affected.

BMW models affected by the emissions scandal

According to current information, the following diesel models are among those involved:

BMW 116d, 318d, 320d
BMW 420d, 520d, 525d
BMW 750d
BMW X1, X3, X5
and many more.

Mini brand vehicles, such as the Mini Cooper Countryman, were also mentioned in the rulings.

Your rights as a BMW owner
Compensation: Up to 10% of the purchase price or more.
Rescission: Under certain conditions, you can return your vehicle.
Free inspection: We offer you a non-binding initial assessment.

Court rulings – BMW must pay!

The case law is clear: the Munich Higher Regional Court has already awarded plaintiffs damages of up to ten percent of the purchase price. Further rulings from Cologne, Bremen, and Dresden confirm that BMW is liable for the installation of illegal defeat devices. The decision of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) is particularly groundbreaking: consumers are entitled to compensation even if the manufacturer has only acted negligently – and without a rigid upper limit of 15 percent.

Why act now?
Statute of limitations looms: The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to enforce your claims.
Avoid loss of value: Affected vehicles are losing market value.
Driving bans: Without retrofitting, restrictions in environmental zones are looming.

Tip: Check your vehicle today – it only takes a few minutes and could save you thousands of euros!
